"All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Experimental Life

thisxlife started with a tiny house. But the real experiment was always bigger than that -- it was about questioning the defaults and building a life on our own terms.

Experimental Life is a free and open-minded space to explore non-conventional living and different lifestyles that might fall outside the norm. We share our own experiments, and we seek out others who are doing the same -- people who are rethinking how they live, work, eat, parent, and create.

What we cover

We publish in-depth interviews with thought-leaders from a wide range of expertise -- entrepreneurs, academics, theoreticians, and practitioners. We also share shorter features, editorials, and how-to guides on topics that matter to us.

Our philosophy

The impact of an idea matters more than how big it is. An experiment might be as dramatic as selling everything you own, or as simple as changing what you eat for breakfast. What matters is the intention behind it and the willingness to try something different.

We started thisxlife because our tiny house experience showed us that most of the best solutions to real problems come from thinking differently about the problem itself. That's what Experimental Life is about -- collecting and sharing those different ways of thinking.

Have an experiment to share?

We welcome contributions from anyone who has pursued a lifestyle experiment -- big or small. Tell us what you tried, why you tried it, and what happened. The best stories come from real experience, not theory.
